Students are permitted to transfer up to 90 credits towards the 120 liberal arts, science and nursing credits required for the BSN degree. A current registered nurse license may account for 36 credits of those transfer credits. This program allows students to work while honing their professional nursing skills and providing close relationships with faculty members who will help students further their nursing education.

Students in the RN-BSN Program will graduate with skills in holistic nursing, patient advocacy, effective communication, health care policy advocacy and leadership capabilities. Concordia College – New York

Division of Nursing

Classes can be taken in the evenings, weekends and over the summer in order to earn the BS as quickly as possible.

These articulation agreements guarantee that the maximum number of previously earned credits towards a degree will be transferred to the CUNY School of Professional Studies online RN to BS in Nursing Program. Students who enroll in the Queensborough Community College and CUNY School of Professional Studies nursing program are guaranteed a seamless transition into the BS Program.

Dominican College of Blauvelt

Division of Nursing

The Division of Nursing at the Dominican College of Blauvelt offers a traditional undergraduate program, an accelerated RN to BSN program and an accelerated weekend or weekday program for students who have a bachelor’s degree in another area. Each degree path offers a variety of clinical opportunities at healthcare sites in the region. All of the instructors within the program hold advanced degrees in nursing, ensuring that students receive a practical, hands-on education that prepares them for their nursing careers. The Dominican College of Blauvelt BSN program requires 131 credits to graduate and transfer credits from accredited institutions are accepted. At least 30 of those credits should be completed at Dominican College.

Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing

The Dominican College of Blauvelt’s Division of Nursing offers a unique accelerated nursing program for those students who already hold a bachelor’s degree in another area and wish to make a career change. There are two different options for students to pursue the additional 58 credits needed to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. The accelerated weekday program allows students to complete their degree in 12 months through taking classes five days a week in back-to-back trimesters. The accelerated weekend program is held on the weekends and offers students the ability to earn their BSN in two years. This option is ideal for students who wish to work full-time while pursuing their nursing education.

Graduates of the program will be able to think critically about patient care and healthcare issues. Students will also exit the program with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and their families, as well as with other healthcare professionals.

Transfer students may be able to graduate in a shorter time frame, depending upon how many credits they are able to transfer over from other institutions.

Students begin working their clinical assignments in their second year at D’Youville. The clinical experience provides students the opportunity to work and learn at several different clinical sites, including Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo Psychiatric Center, Roswell Park Cancer Institute and many other prestigious healthcare institutions in the Buffalo region. Internships at area facilities are also offered to qualified students who wish to gain more experience working in a nursing environment. The liberal arts and science components of the curriculum prepare students for the critical thinking, research and communication skills they will need to succeed in their careers as nurses.

Nursing RN-BSN

For students who are currently Registered Nurses, D’Youville’s School of Nursing offers an online RN to BSN program. This flexible and affordable program is ideal for students who are currently working full-time. The School of Nursing will assist RN to BSN students in finding clinical experience sites that are located near their places of employment, making the required clinical work for the degree more convenient for students.

Students can expect to graduate from the program in two years if they attend school full-time. D’Youville College will also accept transfer credits from an accredited institution towards the BSN degree. Students who have previously earned a bachelor’s degree will have the core requirements to the BSN waived, further shortening the length of time it takes to complete the BSN. Graduates of the program will demonstrate enhanced skills in evidence-based practice, community-based nursing, working with vulnerable populations and leadership in the workplace.
